During its February 20, 2024, board meeting, the St. Paul School District Board of Directors selected two finalists to move forward in the Superintendent/Elementary Principal search process. The Board and Staff/Community Screening Committee members considered a total of twenty-one applicants and invited six for a first round interview/screening via Zoom for the position. Following that interview/screening, the Board announced the selection of two finalists for the position.
Finalists include:
Troy Fisher—Presently a principal in the Forest Grove School District. Fisher earned his doctorate in education from George Fox University in 2022. Prior to joining the Forest Grove District, he served eight years as a principal in the Newberg School District.

Wes Owens—Formerly the superintendent/principal of the Sherman County School District. Owens is presently serving as an administrator in the North Marion School District. Prior to his eight-year tenure in Sherman County, he spent two years as a principal in St. Paul. He earned his administrative degree from Lewis & Clark College.

Staff and community members will have an opportunity to meet each of the finalists when they visit the district for a day of in-district engagement on Wednesday, March 6. Details of the visit are presently being planned.
The Board is hoping to select a superintendent/principal candidate soon after the interviews on March 11 and March 12. The new superintendent/principal will replace Joe Wehrli who will retire effective June 30, 2024, after 11 years of service to the district.
