As I review the weather forecast for next week, I see that there may be rain, freezing temperatures, and the possibility of snow. This seems like a good time to share with you the process we use at St. Paul to determine whether school will be closed or if there will be a two-hour delay.
Each morning, our staff drives the roads in the district to assess the safety of travel conditions. I also stay in close communication with the superintendents of neighboring districts to gather information about road conditions in the surrounding areas. More often than not, St. Paul works alongside multiple neighboring districts when making closure decisions. We collaborate closely to ensure our decisions reflect the broader regional situation.
The decision to close school may come in the form of either a two-hour delay or a full closure. When the decision is made, the district will communicate with families via our website. We also have a system that sends a text and/or call to the number we have on file in your student's profile. Additionally, we will communicate with local TV news stations to keep the community informed.
Hopefully, there will be no need for any closures this winter. However, please know we will always prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
Thank you for your understanding, and if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
