Community Letter 6.30.2020

Important Update on St. Paul District Operations

June 30, 2020

Dear St Paul Community,

Marion County is now negotiating  phase two of the reopening of the state of Oregon. As a part of this phase we have formed a district team to develop a plan for the reopening of our school district in the fall of 2020. This team will use the Guidance Document “Ready Schools, Safe Learners”  ( available on the ODE website) as the basis for a comprehensive plan that will place student, staff and community safety as the number one priority of its work. Our plan will be based on information that is distributed through the Oregon Health Authority and Marion County Health Department as well as the Oregon Department of education and the governor's office.

The plan will be available to the community for review no later than August 15, 2020. At this time the plan includes returning our students to school in the fall while at the same time following strict social distancing and sanitation guidelines. Our schools will operate somewhat differently in the fall and for the foreseeable future. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work together to meet all the requirements for the reopening of schools.

We want your input, a short parent survey will be posted on the district website and distributed to our email list, this information will help our team assess the communities thoughts about our instructional plans for the 2020-2021 school year. Please fill out the survey and I welcome your emails of phone calls with additional information regarding the reopening plan. Please know that safety is our highest priority, we are receiving regular updates from state agencies that will inform the creation of our plan and in response to this we are moving slowly to ensure that we include all required safety measures.

In response to the executive order from the governor's office all visitors to the indoors of our facilities will be required to wear face coverings until further notice. Thank you for your cooperation in meeting this requirement.

Sincerely,

Joseph M. Wehrli
